Julian Stair: Tea and sensation

Julian Stair, one of the UK’s leading artists working in clay, has had a lifelong interest in the many meanings and values of pottery, particularly related to the senses.

He has created a specially commissioned porcelain tea set for an informal research project involving our visitors and taking place during the exhibition A Tea Journey.

The project takes the form of a number of relaxed conversations over a cup of tea served in the tea set he has made. Facilitated by the artist, a museum curator and an anthropologist, these informal tea parties will spark conversations about the experience of drinking tea, the senses it involves and the memories it evokes.

FREE with admission.
