A unique opportunity to meet Gayle Chong Kwan, one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists, and speak to her about her new artwork The Taotie on display in Compton Verney’s Chinese collection.

Gayle will explain the myths, legends, rituals, family and colonial histories that she drew on to create her work and offer a rare opportunity to touch and handle objects from Compton Verney’s ancient Chinese bronze collection. It will also be the first time she performs an annual ritual in front of the work. This ritual will then be enacted annually at Compton Verney, inviting different voices each time.
