The Kirker Autumn Concert

The Carducci String Quartet with Simon Rowland-Jones, viola will be playing at Compton Verney.

Simon Rowland-Jones made his début solo in Carnegie Hall and was the founder violist of the Chilingirian Quartet, in which he played for ten years. He now teaches viola and chamber music at the Royal College of Music. He will be performing alongside the Carducci String Quartet who have played in Wigmore Hall (London), National Concert Hall (Dublin), and the Library of Congress (Washington D.C.).  Aside from being raved about by The Guardian for their ‘high-octane playing balanced control with devil-may-care spontaneity’ and by The Strad for ‘playing of vivacity and constant rhythmic subtlety’, they will undoubtedly give your ears a treat.

The Carducci String Quartet and Simon Rowland-Jones will be performing:

  • Delius: Third Movement from the 1916 String Quartet ” Late Swallows”
  • Vaughan Williams: Phantasy String Quintet
  • Elgar: String Quartet in E minor Op.83.

Doors open at 6pm.

Concert starts at 6.45pm in the Chapel and will finish at 8.30pm with a brief interval.
