We’re in a central location just 6 miles from the M40, Junction 12.
Drive times:
20 mins drive from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Leamington Spa
30 mins from Banbury, Solihull and Coventry
40 mins from Birmingham International Airport
60 mins from Oxford and Birmingham
There’s a free car park on site, with 12 dedicated Blue Badge spaces and two EV chargers.
Plan your journey by bus:
Discover IndieGo PLUS, a community transport service that operates on a dial-a-ride basis.
The service is for residents of Stratford-on-Avon district.
There are bike racks available by the Welcome Centre.
The nearest stations are Leamington Spa, Warwick Parkway, Stratford-upon-Avon and Banbury.
Chiltern Railways offers services from London and Birmingham which stop at all of these stations.
Compton Verney is then a 20-30 minute taxi ride depending on which station you are travelling from.
When you arrive at the car park, head to the Welcome Centre where you can;
- Buy your tickets for the day, or have prebooked tickets scanned, please note we’re a cash-free site
- Pick up a free map
- Find out what’s on that day
- Browse the shopping area
- Take the shuttle to the house
- Collect the tramper, if booked in advance
From there you can take one of the walks around the lake, woodlands or meadow, or begin the stroll to the gallery (approximately 10 mins/426 meters) if you don’t want to take the shuttle.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the Welcome Centre, grounds and meadow.
- When exploring near the house, dogs are to be kept on short leads
- Longer leads can be used in the Old Town Meadow, please be conscious of any animals or wildlife around
- Dogs aren’t able to go in the lake, playground, forest school, house (including galleries, shop and café) or Ice House Coppice, a protected wildlife habitat – a map with marked dog-friendly and restricted areas can be found in the welcome centre
- Designated posts that can be used if you need to make a short trip to the café, shop or toilets
- Dog water bowls are located near the house and welcome centre
- During winter we may use salt on some of the pathways, please note this may irritate your dogs paws
- There’s a maximum of two dogs per person
How long are you spending here?
Some examples of how you can get the most of your time here, whether you’re here for a couple of hours or all day
- Enjoy a circular walk, from 20 – 45 minutes, stopping by the bird hide and ice house
