Heritage Open Days: Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September. Advance booking is now sold out and we anticipate being very busy on both days. You’re still welcome to turn up on the day, but parking is limited and entry cannot be guaranteed if the car park is full. Please car share or visit later in the day where possible.

The Taotie Annual Ritual

with Artist Gayle Chong Kwan

Meet Gayle Chong Kwan, one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists, as she leads you through Compton Verney’s third annual ritual.

Gayle will explain the myths, legends, rituals, family and colonial histories that inspired her work The Taotie, and how her artistic practise since has continued to be influenced by the work she made with our collections at Compton Verney.

There’s also an opportunity to handle objects from Compton Verney’s ancient Chinese Bronze collection as part of the ritual.
