We’re open!

Due to a burst water pipe near our main entrance, the road (B4086) is closed from the Fosse Way. There is a temporary diversion in place through Kineton whilst repairs are carried out. When coming from that direction, entrance to Compton Verney is before the road closure.

Please allow more time for travel if this impacts your journey to us.

Green Dwelling:

Art in the Park

16 March 2019 – 15 December 2019

Green Dwelling has been imagined by artist Krijn de Koning (b. 1963, Amsterdam).

About the
exhibition

Consisting of a collection of differently-sized green blocks ranged across Compton Verney’s Old Town Meadow, the installation highlighted the history of the land: once the site of the medieval village of Compton Murdak, the meadow was planted with trees by Capability Brown in the 18th century, but these were ploughed up in the 1960s.

Echoing ancient monoliths, the installation playfully referenced the lost histories of the site. Paths and picnic benches are integral to the design, transforming the meadow into a destination to explore and enjoy, and providing an exciting opportunity to re-frame familiar views of the Grade-I listed mansion house and Grade-II listed park.

The eyecatcher commission was part of a National Lottery Heritage funded project to restore and reimagine Compton Verney’s ‘Capability’ Brown-designed landscape.
