Winter Solstice Stories
with
Kate's Story Tree
Friday 20 – Sunday 22 December 2024
On a cold winter’s night, a hungry fox creeps through the snow but he has forgotten about the old Tomten who guards the farm. The Tomten are mischievous but wise creatures who live to eat porridge. No one has ever seen them, but their stories are true, as all stories are…
Join us for a story time like no other this Christmas as we celebrate the shortest days of the year with Kate’s Storytree with solstice-themed stories and crafts. Father Christmas will also be stopping by to say hello.
In the beautiful Adam Hall, here at Compton Verney, we will celebrate the shortest day by gathering together for story time, sharing tales of the wise and mischievous Tomten and a lost mitten, we will celebrate all that is special about winter.
The days are short, so to bring the light in, we will be making a Tomten lantern using paper and pompoms, ribbons and wool. Each lantern is supplied with an electric tealight to guide you home.
Using foliage gathered from the grounds, you’re invited to make a garland wreath to take and decorate your home. Using ribbons and decorations, your little ones can add as much or as little as they wish.
