Appliqué Art from Recycled Textiles

In this full-day workshop, explore the creative possibilities of appliqué using recycled and repurposed fabrics.

Be guided through design development, fabric selection, composition, and stitching techniques to create a unique textile artwork ready for display.

You will:

  • Gain confidence in selecting and preparing recycled fabrics for textile art.
  • Learn design strategies for building depth, contrast, and focal points using fabric.
  • Practice appliqué techniques including raw-edge appliqué, layered collage, decorative hand stitches, and optional machine stitching.
  • Create an original textile artwork using sustainable materials.

This workshop emphasises sustainability, creative reuse, hand-stitching techniques, and personal storytelling through fabric.
