You will be introduced to a range of methods and experimental approaches to documenting nature using your smartphone
Graham will encourage you to take a more mindful and experimental approach to nature photography, promoting a deeper connection to nature helping capture details that often get overlooked. Be inspired by Compton Verney’s grounds and diversity of wildlife and discover the hidden capabilities of your smartphone to view the landscape with new eyes.
The workshop begins indoors with a introduction to subject selection, screen-based composition and methods for interpreting the aesthetic qualities of nature. Graham will give you a tour of your smartphone’s capabilities for recording images and sound, and techniques for handling the camera app.
You will then be invited to explore the grounds at your own leisure, taking photos of your surroundings, with additional options to record cloudscapes with time-lapse, and introduce some plant and bird identifier apps.
After a lunch break, you will be invited to share your images with the rest of the group and do some editing of your images.
Graham will also be available at the end of the session to answer questions and talk about entry routes into mirrorless and DSLR macro photography, for anyone who might be seeking to progress in their photography.
