Printing with Sunlight
Workshop
Saturday 5 July 2025Explore the natural world through the traditional photographic process of Cyanotype (sun printing).
During this workshop you will learn how to create your own cyanotype prints from natural forms, discuss the coating and chemical process and experiment with the process in a variety of ways to produce a series of unique works.
The cyanotype process uses a mixture of iron compounds, which when exposed to UV light (sunlight) and washed in water oxidise to create lovely Prussian Blue images that look a little like blue X-Rays.
We will use natural forms as the basis to create exciting and fun artwork that you will be able to take home to keep.
Exploring the formal elements of shape, tone, line, form, pattern and texture as well as learning the historical photographic art of cyanotype.
