Printing with Sunlight

Cyanotype Workshop

Sunday 19 July 2026

Explore the natural world through the traditional photographic process of Cyanotype (sun printing).

During this workshop you’ll learn how to create your own cyanotype prints from natural forms, discuss the coating and chemical process and experiment with the process in a variety of ways to produce a series of unique works.

The cyanotype process uses a mixture of compounds, which when exposed to sunlight and washed in water oxidise, creates lovely Prussian Blue images that look a little like blue X-Rays.

You’ll use natural forms as the basis to create exciting and fun artwork that you can take home to keep.

Explore the formal elements of shape, tone, line, form, pattern and texture as well as learning the historical photographic art of cyanotype.
