The evening will start with an illustrated talk on the bats of Britain, led by naturalist, author and expert wildlife guide Michael Blencowe.
Then, as dusk falls, take a tour of the lakeside and woodlands armed with bat detectors to discover the secret lives of bats.

As the sun sets over Compton Verney’s grounds, some of Britain’s most amazing animals emerge and take to the skies.
The evening with start with an illustrated talk on the bats of Britain led by naturalist, author and expert wildlife guide Michael Blencowe. Learn all about the secret lives of bats, their unbelievable echolocation, the different species found in Warwickshire and the folklore that surrounds these often-misunderstood animals.
Then, as dusk falls, you will head off into Compton Verney’s grounds, taking a tour of the lakeside and woodlands armed with bat detectors that will allow you to tune into the bat’s nocturnal world by listening to the bats as they hunt overhead.
Also look and listen out for owls, badgers and other nocturnal wildlife along the way.
About Michael Blencowe
Michael Blencowe has been leading wildlife events for over 15 years. He is author of Gone, The Butterflies of Sussex, and has collaborated with national treasure Julia Donaldson on The Woolley Bear Caterpillar. Michael has worked for several wildlife conservation organisations over the years including the Wildlife Trusts and Butterfly Conservation where he has helped thousands of people to explore, understand, appreciate and celebrate their amazing wildlife heritage.
His passion and wildlife knowledge has taken him all over the globe. He’s discussed Swifts on Countryfile, Swallowtails on Springwatch and herbalism in a Harry Potter documentary.
