WALKS

There are plenty of options for walking at Compton Verney, from a short gentle stroll along pathed areas to a long walk exploring beyond our grounds there’s something to suit every age, ability and weather. We’ve prepared four trails to help you get started.

Ice House Coppice Circular Trail – Approximately 700m gentle stroll on flat smooth paths. Accessible to all ages, buggies and wheelchairs, and suitable for wet weather use.

North Park Circular Trail – Approximately 1.25km circular stroll through long mown grassy paths and woodland. Mostly moderate walking, includes an incline. Can be muddy in sections, sturdy shoes or walk boots recommended.

Old Town Meadow Circular Trail – Approximately 1.5km circular stroll along mown grassy paths. Mostly moderate walking, includes an incline. Can be muddy in sections, sturdy shoes or walk boots recommended.

Combrook Rural Country Trail – Approximately 5km circular walk. Mainly tracks, but some muddy parts with short ascents and descents sturdy shoes or walk boots recommended. The walk crosses the busy B4086 twice, take great care.

ORIENTEERING

Can you navigate through our parkland, find the posts and complete the mystery word?

There are three trails created for different levels from beginners to a more challenging course for those with previous experience of orienteering.

Easy orienteering map: suitable for beginners and for those who want to stick to pathed routes, this route takes approx. 30 mins to complete at a steady pace. 1.4km

Medium orienteering map: suitable for beginners or those who want to go a bit further, this route is 2.2 km and includes some non-pathed area. This level takes approximately 40 mins to complete at a steady pace. Unfortunately, this route includes areas that aren’t suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

Long orienteering map: suitable for those with some experience. This route is 3.1km and includes a mix of pathed and cross-country areas. This level takes approximately 60 mins to complete at a steady pace. Unfortunately, this route includes areas that aren’t suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs

TAI CHI WITH THE SWAN SCHOOL OF TAI CHI

Tuesdays (experience required), 1.30-2.45pm
Thursdays (all welcome), 11.30am-12.45pm
Third Saturday of the month (all welcome), 9.30-11am

Experience the benefits of Tai Chi, which combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements, to reduce stress, and improve posture, balance, and muscle strength, all in the beautiful surroundings of our parkland. Please wear comfortable clothing and dress for the weather.

£12 per session, payable to Swan Tai Chi on the day by card/cash. Pre-booking is essential due to limited numbers.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING WITH DO3

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8pm; Sundays, 7.30-9.30am

During Spring and Summer, Do3 are offering open water swimming sessions in the beautiful lake at Compton Verney. Find out more and book via their website:

Single swim – £13. There is an optional membership fee of £10 will unlock membership pricing so you can swim for as little as £9 per swim.

YOGA WITH SARA PALMER

Every Tuesday 11am-12pm and on the last Sunday of the month 10.30am-12pm

Join Yoga teacher and Ayurveda practitioner, Sara Palmer, as she guides you to dissolve long-held stresses and tensions, whilst drawing on all the positive forces of nature in the Compton Verney grounds for a total reset of body, heart and mind.

Classes begin with gentle flowing movements, and Sara will lead you to focus on breath and mindfulness so that you can uncover a natural state of ease and relaxation. This will revitalise your whole being for the day and week ahead.

£12.50 per session. Classes will be inside on colder days but outside where possible.
