Compton Verney Fund is a charity (charity number 1134907) set up to hold a trust fund and use its income for the purposes of the preserving, maintaining and supporting Compton Verney for the benefit of the public.

Philip Bunt

Philip is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with over 40 years of experience in the UK and overseas in the accountancy profession and as a Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer in several businesses, charities and the public sector. He retired in 2023 from the role of Chief Operating Officer of UK Anti-Doping.

Philip has served as Vice-Chair of Governors of two schools where he also chaired the finance committees and was a trustee of the associated charities. He was Deputy Chair and Treasurer of the Campaign for Learning. Before being appointed at CVHC he was the honorary treasurer of an international development charity.

Philip is the Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. He is also a trustee of Compton Verney Fund and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

 

Howard Jones

Howard Jones is Professor of Finance at Oxford University and a Fellow of Keble College. His finance research includes institutional asset management and investment advice. Howard was a trustee of Compton Verney House Trust from 2016 to 2020 and has been a trustee of Compton Verney Fund since 2018.

Matthew Woods

Matthew Woods trained at Withers, a leading City law firm, where he qualified as a private client lawyer in 2001.

He advises families on succession and governance issues with a focus on family-owned businesses and rural estates.

Philanthropy is an important part of many succession plans that Matthew is involved with for clients and he is a trustee for two other charities.

Many of Matthew’s clients own heritage property and art collections and this is an area of particular interest to him and helping preserve a heritage asset, whether through a charity or otherwise, is a rewarding experience.

Matthew sat on the management board of Withers for 6 years during which the importance of philanthropy and ESG issues as well as pro bono work has grown.
