Happy Anniversary Amy & Alex

Happy Anniversary Amy & Alex

Congratulations Amy & Alex on your first anniversary!

I met Amy and Alex in April 2018 and instantly loved them! I was so pleased when Alex rang me to confirm they had chosen Compton Verney as their wedding venue. I was driving home and I still remember the call.

Talk about chilled – the week before the wedding Amy was abroad with work and I was becoming a little keen to get some final details pinned down but Amy and Alex were totally calm and collected and everything just fell beautifully into place when it needed to 😊! Its unusual for the event manager to be getting a little edgy! (It’s usually the other way around!) Everything was under control and they make a great team.

It all kicked off with a rehearsal the night before and a team of ushers and bridesmaids decorating Adam Hall and Old servants Hall. Everything was ready for Passion for Flowers arrival to add those bright and happy vibrant colours, which tied everything together so well, the next morning. Beautiful splashes of colour ‘popped’ against the elegant neutral background  also accenting a simple and stunning cake made by a family friend which perfectly complimented Amy and Alex’s day.

Amy got ready next door at the beautifully equipped apartment (The Old Coach House, Compton Verney) let by our neighbour and which enjoys the stunning grounds at Compton Verney.

Our own wonderful Sally delivered this wedding for Amy and Alex, and loved working with them as much as I did! We really enjoy getting to know our couples and if we miss a wedding, we can’t wait for  the photographs! That look captured by Sam Bennett between Amy & Alex as Amy nears the end of the aisle is perfect; they knew it was right and it’s the image of the day for me!

A good few very happy tears were shed during ceremony, the mark of a good wedding, I don’t think there was a dry eye in Compton Verney’s elegant, white chapel.

I love that Amy and Alex rang our chapel bell as we arranged their guests into a confetti line, it creates a great photograph! Guests followed the bride and groom through the wildflower meadow to a drink reception beside the lake on a heavenly June afternoon. There were lawn games, drinks, canapes and lots of lovely chatter, making the most of our grounds before heading into Adam Hall for dinner.

Amy & Alex snuck off for a few photographs in the grounds and colour comes into it again with the required Compton Verney bridge shot highlighting one of Amy’s touches– I love that beautiful surprise of green heel!

After drinks on the lawn beside the lake, the wedding breakfast was served by Amadeus in the beautiful Adam Hall. Buffalo mozzarella pearls on chargrilled vegetable salad, sweet peppers filled with soft cheese and balsamic  was followed by Roast fillet of salmon with gratin truffle potato, fine beans and shaved fennel and pea shoot sauce, perfect for the sunny spring day. The Dark Belgian chocolate tart with strawberry and pink peppercorn ice cream with red berry smoothie gave the wedding breakfast a sumptuous finish.

After dinner, Green Claws provided the lighting, dancefloor and DJ to which the party danced the night away and Amy and Alex let their hair down too!

We loved being part of your planning and your special day Amy and Alex, thank you for choosing Compton Verney and congratulations again on your first year anniversary!

Compton Verney send you both lots of love xxx
