The Laughter Cafe

Join us online as Compton Verney’s presents two brilliant Laughter Cafés hosted by Janice Connolly aka Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Barbara Nice.

Expect to have lot of fun at these interactive online events taking place over zoom on Friday 14 August and Sunday 16 August, 2-4pm.

This is a chance to have a good chinwag with the fantastic Janice Connolly, to exchange funny stories in our friendly and welcoming Laughter Café.

Janice is on a mission to uncover the local sense of humour and wants to hear from you! Have you ever laughed so much that it made you cry? – What happened? Maybe you can’t help but chuckle when you remember ‘that time’ your friend tripped over the dog? Or perhaps you smile when you see a lost glove stuck on a fence post waving at the world?

Janice wants to hear it all! Don’t worry if you’re shy or if it is your first time on zoom. We’ll look after you (although you’ll have to bring your own tea and cake!) You will be in control of your video or you can use the chat function to join in if you prefer.

The Laughter Café will celebrate the West Midlands’ sense of humour. Your stories will inspire a Birmingham based artist to create new and exciting visual artworks that will be installed at Compton Verney this September.

With only 25 ‘households’ places at each Laughter Café, sign up now to avoid disappointment!

Book your ticket as a ‘household’ – and what we mean by that is that you can bring as many people as you like with your ticket! So, you might join us solo from your sofa, or it might be you and your gran at the kitchen table or your whole family, you could be a care home joining from the shared lounge or two bubble households making up a big group. Just make sure you are following government guidelines and staying safe while joining us.

You are welcome to take part in one or both of The Laughter Cafés and they are free to attend. We ask you to please let us know if you’ve booked a ticket but aren’t able to join us so we can make sure another household can.
