Textile Fair

Sat 16 and Sun 17 Nov, 11am - 5pm

A firm favourite in the Compton Verney calendar, our Textiles Fair is back again this Autumn.

Start your Christmas shopping by browsing stalls from an impressive range of independent textile artists employing embroidery, felt work, printing and other techniques, to produce high quality items which are available to purchase across both days. We are delighted to be welcoming students from Birmingham City University School of Fashion and Textiles who will be exhibiting their work in the chapel, while the WEA textile group will be showcasing their commemorative Ascott Martyrs wall hanging.

FREE with admission. Visitors must have a valid Membership, Annual Pass or Day Ticket.
Please note that some Stall Holders may only accept cash payments.

Drop in workshops, Sat 16 & Sun 17 Nov, 11am – 5pm

This year find the enthusiastic Leamington Embroiderers Guild in the Wellingtonia room. Join them for a mini drop- in session and discover the decorative ways you can incorporate buttons into your textile work. In addition to this they will have all new work on display, created by their many members throughout this year. Why not bring along some special buttons and enjoy sewing them on in a friendly atmosphere? All materials necessary will be provided.

Textile Collection Tour, Sat 16 & Sun 17 Nov, 2pm

Extend your visit to enjoy our Textile Tour of the superb Marx- Lambert Collection. Enid Marx’s mantra was “passionate about patterns”, and Compton Verney are proud to display some of her most vivid and memorable examples. We will also look at other items in her collection, which include thread work on painted silk, and Stevengraphs.
Discover that Compton Verney also has some remarkable textile examples of our own- sailors’ wool work, embroidered boxers and our magnificent Crimean Quilt.
