Morris Folk Dolls

The Museum of British Folklore commissioned a series of plain cloth dolls to be sent to Morris sides throughout the country, to be dressed in their team costumes.45 Morris Folk Dolls are now on display in Compton Verney’s eclectic British Folk Art Gallery.

The aim is for the Museum of British Folklore to develop the project, with more dolls produced to create a collection which highlights the variety of Morris dancing costumes in the UK. It is hoped that they can be used as a learning resource: for example, to look at dress history and craft skills, as well as being a valuable document of the Morris in the 21st century.

Explore a slice of British Folklore by discovering the dolls amongst the Folk Art collection.
