The March of the Imagination
Art in the Park

For the third year running, and extended due to popular demand, our autumn spectacle returns, and promises to give visitors of all ages a magical experience.
Acclaimed artists, Musson + Retallick have taken inspiration from the historic landscape and house, and our hugely successful summer exhibition, The Marvellous Mechanical Museum, to create a remarkable experience.
Visitors will begin their journey by following an impressive trail of 4000 twinkling reflectors; winding through russet-leaved trees, flickering above the lake, and leading up to the house. As you shine torches and steer spotlights, the artworks come alive before your eyes, glinting and glowing in the darkness.
Further round the route you will spy a cinematic world through the gallery windows, you will experience the trees around the West Lawn glow and fade, and in the 18thCentury chapel you will be transported into a multisensory dream-land.
Keep your hands warm and your belly full with seasonal delights such as flavoured hot chocolates and freshly-baked, wood-fired pizzas. The smell of roasted chestnuts will follow you around and lure you inside where our café and gift shop will tempt you with festive treats.
“Each element will draw visitors around Compton Verney’s beautiful park in a playful partnership between landscape, artwork and the people themselves,” – Flora Cranmer-Perrier, Project Curator.
The March of the Imagination truly promises to lead you, and your imagination, on a remarkable journey. The installation will flicker into life each night from 6.30pm, and takes around an hour to experience, meaning that little ones can get straight back home to bed.
The event runs from Friday to Sunday, between 26 October and 11 November, and makes a great alternative to noisy Bonfire Night celebrations.
Advance booking is recommended.
