Securing our Future
Compton Verney is a charity founded in 2004 by the late Sir Peter Moores (1932-2016). Sir Peter invested in Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park to enable access to great art and nature by as many people as possible.
Unfortunately, 2020 has been a year like no other and we are currently facing the most difficult time in our history. We need your support to ensure that we can continue to deliver our founder’s mission and vision for everyone.
Due to Covid-19, our galleries and grounds were closed in mid-March 2020. This resulted in an immediate impact on our finances; with over 90% of our income coming from admissions, trading and hire, closure to the public hit us hard.
Whilst we have managed to welcome visitors back to our grounds from early June, and the house from early July, we are facing a new visitor model with strict social distancing conditions in place that mean we cannot trade as we would normally as a result of Coronavirus. This longer term impact is something we are trying to deal with and your support could help soften the blow to the charity and ensure our long-term survival.
Culture and nature are even more vital to communities at this time and following the Covid-19 pandemic. Whether finding your space in nature, learning new skills, sharing art with friends and family, attending events, helping us to broaden access to those who don’t have the opportunity to visit and take part in creative activities, developing our work with artists in commissioning and showing new work, walking your dog, enjoying Forest School or a gallery talk, we offer a vibrant and compelling visitor experience. An experience where people can discover the natural environment anew; a place where they can channel their recently discovered creative interests and visit our nationally accredited exhibitions. There is something for everyone at Compton Verney, so please help secure our future.
