The opportunity to explore portraiture in this four hour masterclass, with winner of the 2018 Portrait Artist of the Year competition.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of our Adam Hall, join Samira Addo as she takes you through her artistic process, shares her techniques and supports you on your journey to produce a portrait.
Inspired by our sitter –explore how colour and line expresses forms and as Samira states “evokes emotion and holds a level of relatability unlike any other genre.”
“My art often reflects themes I have a close association with, from moments with friends, to countries explored. Often, I tend to find inspiration in the subtleties of a facial expression or from the exploration of colour and construction. Currently, I’ve been working predominantly in oils, in a style that may be considered as contemporary realism” Samira Addo
Our sitter for this workshop is the inspiring Laura Nyahuye. Laura has been named one of Coventry City of Cultures Modern Lady Godvia’s. Laura is a Zimbabwean born creative visionary who makes wearable body adornments. Her work challenges perceptions and addresses issues to do with women and migrant communities. She is also the founder of Maokwo, a social enterprise exploring ways in which creativity can bring communities together. Laura will provide a short artist talk before she sits for her portrait, showcasing some of the body adornments.
