Sat 6 November 2021, 10.30am – Sat 20 November 2021, 1.30pm
Kieran lectures at The Ashmolean Museum Oxford in connection with their major exhibitions and at Merton College Oxford as part of a research fellowship in the arts, exploring the links between psychological wellbeing and creativity. He also founded and runs Oxford’s independent art school Art Courses Oxford, which specialises in developing innovative ways people can explore art and their own creativity.
We are delighted to announce Kieran will be running two fantastic painting masterclasses here at Compton Verney:
A Walk In The Park, 6th November, 10.30am – 1.30pm
Explore Capability Brown’s ideas about viewing the landscape from different perspectives and learn how painting and drawing can be used to document a series of viewpoints or moments. Linking with the exhibition John Nash: The Landscape of Love and Solace, explore how Nash’s techniques of using ink and wash in a very immediate and energized way can capture the vitality of nature. Working outside, from direct observation of the woodlands, and also in the art studio at Compton Verney.
River Trees, 20th November, 10.30am – 1.30pm
John Nash was fascinated in the complexity of the intersecting forms of tree reflections. In connection with the exhibition of his work at Compton Verney, explore how drawing and oil painting techniques can create the illusion of a flat water surface which also has depth and perspective; and learn how to make water light up and sparkle.
Suitable for adults.
£60 per person. Price includes entry to our John Nash exhibition, all materials and admission to Compton Verney.
