Colourscape

Colourscape is brought to Compton Verney by Eye Music Trust. An immersive and sensory experience bursting with colour and sound.

With giant, walk-in structures filled with colour and light, originally created by artist Peter Jones in the early 70’s, you are invited to explore the many interconnected chambers. The intensity and subtlety of the colours will transport you away to a new reality.

See translucent red, blue, green, yellow and opaque grey, all coming together to create mixtures of colours that you may not be able to name. Musicians perform throughout the chambers, responding to what they see and how the environment changes and evolves.

What people have said about Colourscape:

“I felt I could breathe the colours”

“like being wrapped in a rainbow”

”like walking inside a sleeping giant”

Experience music created on unusual instruments and discover musicians leading you on a journey of the senses.

The musicians will be playing between 11.30am-3.30pm.
The timeslots without the musicians are the perfect sessions for those who would like the experience Colourscape during quieter times.

Thursday – Ansuman Biswas (Asian percussion) and Sylvia Hallett(invented instruments) Come and see/hear some amazing instruments including amplified bicycle wheel, hurdy-gurdy and an instrument that looks like a flying saucer!

Friday- Sylvia Hallett (invented instruments) and Clive Bell (flutes, Shakuhachi). The beautiful sound of the Japanese shakuhachi combined with accordian and some unusual instruments.

Saturday – Richard Durrant (guitars), David Stevens (computers, touch-paintings). Richard Durrant plays everything from Bach to contemporary guitar music.  Every hour there will also be a session where you can create you own music on “sound-paintings”.
