Creative Writing Workshop with Sarah Salway

in our new Women's Library

Thur 20 July, 10.30am - 12.30pm

Have you always wanted to write? Well, what better place to start than in the exquisite Women’s Library at Compton Verney, using the surroundings as inspiration. Both beginners and experts are welcome. You’ll write with Sarah in a friendly supportive atmosphere and leave with new ideas in your notebook and some examples to try on your own.

Sarah Salway is the author of six books: three novels (Something Beginning With, Tell Me Everything, Getting the Picture), two collections of poetry (You Do Not Need Another Self-Help Book, Digging Up Paradise), and one short story collection (Leading the Dance). Her work has also appeared in publications as diverse as PEN International, Psychologies Magazine, the Financial Times, and the Virago Book of the Joy of Shopping, and has been commissioned by the Wise Words Festival and BBC Radio 4. She is a former Canterbury Laureate and RLF Fellow at both the London School of Economics and the University of Kent. She writes about gardens at www.writerinthegarden.com, and tweets @sarahsalway. Her website is www.sarahsalway.co.uk.

The Creative Writing Workshop is a FREE event.  Visitors must have a valid DAY TICKET in order to attend.

Due to the size of the room, places are limited.  Please email info@comptonverney.org.uk to reserve a place.

Sarah will be writing in the women’s library from 19 – 21 July and available to discuss writing, women’s books and reading with visitors. Anyone (whatever age or gender) who wants to write alongside Sarah is welcome!
