Georgian Weekend is here!

The time has arrived for our Georgian Weekend at Compton Verney!

Inside our beautiful mansion, the Mannered Mob are decked out in very stylish Georgian attire, with displays of embroidery, and medical equipment that may or may not turn ones stomach! Elsewhere, in our elegant Robert Adam designed hall, the group are playing enchanting music on period instruments and engaging visitors (who dare!) with Georgian dancing and singing.

Outside, in the mellow autumnal temperatures, dressed from his tricorne hat to his shiny buckled shoes is the Georgian Head Gardener of the day, charged with taking guests back in time to the 1770s. (There will be two tours each day – 12:30 and 3pm). ‘Capability’ Brown’s landscape was partly installed at that point in time, and those who choose to join the tour will hear why and how the garden changed, whilst seeing first-hand the key elements of a Brownian landscape.

The team are here to welcome, and the atmosphere is sublime. If you’re within reach of Compton Verney, South Warwickshire, we open today and tomorrow from 11am until 5pm; we’d love for you to join us!

A tip – watch out for the Head Gardener – he’s a grumpy fellow in the mornings!
