Compton Verney Appoints New Director
The Governors of Compton Verney, Warwickshire's largest art gallery, are delighted to announce the appointment of Kathleen Soriano as Director.
Kathleen Soriano is currently the Head of Exhibitions and Collections Management at the National Portrait Gallery, London. She began her career at the Royal Academy of Arts and has worked at the National Portrait Gallery for 17 years, initially as Exhibitions Officer.
Since 1996 she has been responsible for Exhibitions, National Programmes, Conservation, Collections Management and Design at the National Portrait Gallery. Kathleen Soriano has worked on exhibitions across the range of British and international portraiture, from painting to contemporary photography, and has significantly developed the gallery's presence nationally.
In 2004 Kathleen Soriano was awarded one of the first Clore Leadership Programme Fellowships, which involved her working at the South Bank Centre, London and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. Lord Smith of Finsbury, Director of the Clore Leadership Programme said, “Kathleen is an outstanding cultural leader and has an impressive record of achievement in collections and exhibitions management. I am delighted that she has been appointed Director of Compton Verney and wish her every success in her new role”.
Kathleen Soriano will bring a great deal of energy, imagination and entrepreneurial flair to Compton Verney and the Governors look forward to working with her when she joins the gallery in Spring 2006.
